OAKLAND -- NFL running back star Marshawn Lynch was charged Wednesday with misdemeanor driving under the influence by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.
Lynch, who was arrested Saturday after a California Highway Patrol officer noticed him weaving across lanes on northbound Interstate 880 at about 3:20 a.m., had a blood alcohol level of .10, just over the .08 legal limit, according to charging documents filed Wednesday morning.
Lynch's attorney, Ivan Golde, could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
Representatives from the Seattle Seahawks and the NFL also did not return calls.
Lynch was arrested and booked Saturday morning by a CHP officer who noticed a 2012 Ford van driven by Lynch rambling across lanes of Interstate 880 in Oakland. The officer then flashed his lights and Lynch pulled over at the first available freeway exit at Ashby Avenue, stopping at 67th and Shellmound streets near Interstate 80 in Emeryville.
Lynch, a former Oakland Tech and Cal football star, was alone in the van. He was given and failed a preliminary blood alcohol test. Lynch, who was cooperative throughout, was then transported to North County Jail where he failed a breath test.
Lynch, who signed a four-year $31 million contract in March, could face a suspension from the NFL for violating the league's personal conduct policy. If convicted, it would be the second time the five-year veteran has been found guilty of a crime.
