The Samsung Galaxy Beam is now available in UK stores. The South Korean firm's latest Android handset has the boon of an intergrated projector

?

Following its unveiling at the Mobile World Congress in February, Samsung has revealed that the Samsung Galaxy Beam, a projector smartphone, is now available in the UK.

Despite being just 12.5mm thick, the innovative handset displays multimedia content onto flat surfaces, such as walls and ceilings, in high-definition.

With an 8-megapixel camera and 720p recording capabilities at 30fps, this summer?s holiday photographs and 720p videos can be shared instantly via the Beam?s unique built-in projector.

Its 4.0-inch display lets users watch the latest films and television programmes, wherever they are.

Another feature intended for shared entertainment experiences is Samsung?s dedicated Game Hub, which boasts over 1,000 games, from Paper Toss to Assassin?s Creed, ready to be downloaded and played on the device.

In addition, it is hoped that students and professionals will use the versatile pocket device for work purposes, particularly presentations.

Simon Stanford, Samsung UK?s vice president, said: ?It?s the kind of device you won?t find anywhere else ? a high definition projector within a standard sized smartphone ? and is great for people who want to watch movies, show photos to friends or need to give a presentation while they?re out and about.?

The Beam features the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, rather than the latest Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0, and is powered by a 1.0GHz dual-core processor. For extended use, there is the 2000 mAh battery and 8GB of internal memory.
