BOISE, Idaho -- Boise State has agreed to make the Big West Conference its new home for all non-football sports.
Boise State President Bob Kustra announced Friday the school has accepted an invitation to join the conference starting July 1.
The university has been searching for a new league since the football team agreed to join the Big East next season, a move that also brought an end to the school's membership in the Mountain West Conference.
Kustra says joining the Big West complements the coast-to-coast profile created in part by the football team's entrance into the Big East.
Next season, Boise State men's and women's basketball, tennis, track, volleyball and other sports will compete in the new league.
Other Big West members include Hawaii, San Diego State and Pacific.
