Drugs Prevent Headaches Not Proven Prostate Enlargement
Do not immediately believe it when someone says migraine headaches can be prevented, because recent studies show that it is not true. Research published in the British Journal of Urology International is proved that the risk of prostate enlargement is not influenced by drug type headache Non Steroid Anti Inflammatory ( NSAIDs).
Included in this class include ibuprofen and aspirin. notion that NSAID drugs can reduce the risk of enlarged prostate or benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) originated from the results of previous studies in 2006. In a study involving 2500 men, concluded that long-term use of NSAIDs may reduce the risk of BPH. But the conclusion was later refuted in a recent study conducted by Siobhan Sutcliffe from Washington University .
The current study involving more participants, the 4711 men aged 55-74 years who were observed for 9 years. At the beginning of the study, participants were asked to answer several questions related to headache medication habits. After that, the researchers looked at medical history until nine years later and 31 percent of participants reported that there were a swollen prostate.
Sutcliffe said there was no significant difference in risk between participants who are taking the drug with rare headache. He concluded that the use of headache medication does not reduce the risk of BPH or prostate swelling, as concluded in previous studies. Any attempt to prevent the enlargement of the prostate has always received attention because these disorders affect the quality of life of a man.
